Creativity, collaboration, and diversity are key to innovation. At its core, innovation solves problems whether it’s opening a bottle more quickly and easily or designing a diverging diamond interchange to reduce road congestion. What can’t change quickly through design innovation are human beings. We are inherently pulled toward homeostasis and away from change. This has significant implications for our society, our communities, and our organizations, both public and private. It is a significant contributor to inequality, discrimination, and disparity which all lead to instability which ironically is what we eschew. In this first series of blogs, we’ll be diving into this quandary as it relates to underrepresentation of women in leadership and why it’s important to accelerate pathways to the top.
